Well, we are officially in no-man's land here....no new Eric & Sookie canon until next May. While we can live in True Blood for awhile, eventually that will go away, too (horrors, I know). So, one of my new projects is to post a comprehensive list of awesome Eric/Sookie fan fics to get us through the hiatus with our sanity intact.
I have read a lot, and I mean a lot of Eric/Sookie fan fics in the last month or so. These are the ones I can heartily endorse. The list is still short, so as you can see, it is my no means exhaustive! And I would be happy to find new ones, so if you have a great fic to recommend, by all means, let me know so that I can take a look at it for possible inclusion. If we can get a decent list going, then I will probably post a link to the Comms here, as well.
There are a lot of fan fics out there, so I have limited myself at this point to one rated Mature (it is Eric/Sookie that I'm wanting to read after all), but I am not against linking to ones that aren't rated M.
Also, I've tried to recommend fics where is seems the author is updating regularly (since they are all WiPs). I have a couple others that I think are great, but they are only a few chapters in, so until they reach "critical mass" I won't be linking them in.

As some of you are aware, I am many chapters ahead in my writing (about 12 at this point), which is why I felt comfortable posting a WiP to begin with. However, over the past ten days or so, as I have fleshed through some of the later chapters, I have begun to feel disenchanted with the trajectory of the story, especially with the last few chapters that I have posted and the ones that are scheduled for posting over the next two weeks. I feel as if my characters are ahead of where they should be given what I am writing currently (chapter 17). In short, I think the story has gone off the rails a bit and I want to take the time now to correct it before I compound the problem by continuing to post.
So what does this mean? It means that I need to go back to the beginning and see if I can't pinpoint where events are deviating from plan and then rework those sections. I am not sure how long that will take, but I know I definitely only want to publish something I can feel proud of. I have spent a lot of time on this fic, and I want it to be the best it can be.
I apologize in advance to anyone I have inconvenienced and I hope you will be willing to stop back when I get up and running again. For now, I am leaving the existing chapters posted, but should I make edits to prior chapters, I will probably pull the old entries and repost, just so it doesn't get confusing.
I hope you all understand my predicament. Obviously, I don't want to force an unplanned hiatus on anyone. But, if it makes my fic better, then in the end I think it will be worth it.

Officially popping my LJ cherry today to post the first chapter of my fic, Tiny Vessels. Yay, I'm so excited. This is my first ever fic!
So, here's the deal: shortly after the epic failure that was the BSG finale, I embarked on a project--a mission, if you will--to correct the most egregious of errors in the finale: namely, the almost table frak and the ridiculous *POOF*. Thus, my fic was born.
And given the epic epicness that is our pilots, no short fic will do. No, the vision, as I've currently conceived it, is a long and varied work. With dialogue, details, nuance, and can I say it? More than a little smut rolled in to boot. It will come in two parts! Part One (Tiny Vessels) is set pre-mini, while Part Two (to be published this fall or whenever the hell I can get it finished) will pick up about 20 minutes before the end of the finale.
So what do you need to know? I have no intention of rewriting BSG, the series. But, I am not a canon whore either. The biggest change I have made to canon at this point is that Kara was not Zak's flight instructor (although Act of Contrition is one of my all-time favorite epis, given Katee's phenom performance). I just could never wrap my head around the fact that she would break the rules for Zak. But don't worry, there will be enough angst and guilt to go around to set the stage for our pilots at the time the mini opens. There might be other slight changes...ages, ship postings, etc., but I'll just ask you to handwave those. As seasoned K/L shippers, we all know how to do that, right?
So that's about it. Hope you all enjoy. And although I am shitty at leaving Comments myself (sorry to all those fab fic writers who have kept me going over the past three months), of course I would love, love, love to hear your Comments!
